| Newbuild Northwind delivery |
| AVRA is pleased to announce that the company has taken delivery of its latest newbuilding tug, the 3200 BHP MT “Northwind”. The tug has been designed for medium and long range endurance, as well as support duties. The vessel is equipped with a DMT double drum winch, with a bollard pull of 43t, 1000m of 46mm steel wire on the main drum and 500m of 46mm steel wire on the auxiliary drum. She is furthermore equipped with a 66tm Fassi Marine crane, a wooden deck and stern roller and tugger winch. The vessel has 310m3 of fuel capacity, allowing her to steam for about 35-40 days. Dirk Jan van Mourik, director of AVRA Towage: “We are very pleased with the delivery of the Northwind. The yard has done a very good job. We now have 6 vessels operating globally, 4 of about 30t BP and 1 of 50t BP. The Northwind is between the two and gives us more flexibility in offering the right size, cost-effective vessels that are required in today’s market environment. The vessels can be readily interchanged, and we will add further flexibility by year-end when we take delivery of the sister of the Northwind, the Southwind.” The Northwind will go to Singapore directly from the yard to start her maiden trip within Asia. |
